Summary


The Finance and Accounting Analyst will lead the company’s deduction efforts, processing deductions from customers for promotional activities and other expenses. This position reports to the Accounting department, however, heavily interacts with the sales department, outside brokers and other parties.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze and processes customer deductions, verifying that deductions are valid and expensed to the appropriate account, or if invalid, process accordingly.
  • Manage deduction audits by customers for prior periods to ensure accuracy.
  • Engages with customers, brokers, sales staff, supervisors or managers as required to resolve open issues.
  • Effectively communicate with brokers, customers, sales and internal staff on outstanding unauthorized deductions; this includes understanding the process for requesting and collecting repayment of invalid deductions, identifying trends and resolving issues which cause invalid deductions.
  • Identifies and drives process improvement for reducing administrative costs by streamlining processes and reducing deduction volume.
  • Summarize deductions for commission calculations.

 

Job Specifications and Requirements

  • BA in Accounting
  • 2+ years’ experience manufacturing accounting (CPG is a plus) OR 5+ years’ experience in general accounting with a focus on collections
  • Familiarity with customer deductions stemming from trade promotions, supply chain fees and marketing activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information in understandable terms at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; candidate is required to deal with people both individually and in groups to resolve conflicts.
  • Strong ERP systems experience, and strong Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Ability to work in a multi-task environment with multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities and specific time constraints.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills.
