The Lion Forge, LLC has an exciting opportunity for a newly created position for an entry level Editorial Assistant located in St. Louis!


The Lion Forge, LLC operates two business divisions: Lion Forge Comics, a consumer product publisher (comprised of three imprints and a branded collection), and Lion Forge Labs, a business to business creative services studio.


Lion Forge Comics creates award winning comic books and graphic novels with globally recognized licensed properties and on‐trend original concepts. Preparing for its third year of solo branded print publication, Lion Forge Comics brings approximately 60 new titles to market yearly. As an African American owned company committed to “Comics for Everyone,” we strive to publish titles that reflect the diversity of our world in the characters, the creators, and the Lion Forge team, and to create content that is just as original.


Lion Forge Labs creates custom comics and animation for companies and organizations that want to convey content in an interesting way that’s scientifically proven to have a higher retention rate than traditional mediums. Lion Forge Labs works with a variety of nationally known entities.

Lion Forge Comics is experiencing explosive growth! As a result, a newly created position of Editorial Assistant based in St. Louis is available and ready for that individual who loves digging in and keeping items on task and moving forward; enjoys working collaboratively; on trend and is passionate about their role within the organization! This would be assisting an editor who works remotely located out of New York.


Editorial Assistant Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepare acquisitions memos, researching comp titles
  • First read on some pitches and submissions, preparing summaries and reports
  • Maintain editorial schedules and check in with talent on deadlines
  • Write descriptive copy and create and maintain metadata records in Firebrand
  • Project manage titles ensuring deadlines and projects stay on task
  • Work with managing editor to make sure proper approvals are solicited on all covers and interiors
  • Review curriculum content for accuracy
  • Research talent and help maintain talent database
  • Review proofs and check changes against previous rounds
  • Review marketing material for approvals
  • Help make sure Lion Forge products are produced to the highest standards
  • Attend Editor’s meetings and contribute ideas to overall editorial strategy
  • Bring projects to acquisitions
  • Continually scout new talent and keep on top of industry trends
  • Represent Lion Forge at conferences and trade shows as assigned



  • Strong literary background with an understanding of visual sequential art
  • Self-starter, able to juggle multiple tasks
  • Strong ability for project management and respect for deadlines
  • Highly organized
  • Educational background preferred
  • Excellent reading and writing skills
